Lesson Plan
The
three-part lesson:
- There
is a three-part structure, reading down the plan, to the exemplar
lessons
- The
lesson consists of a starter, followed by a main teaching activity,
and finally the plenary session.
- The
first and final parts of the lesson will almost always involve
work with the whole class
- The
main teaching activity can be organised in different ways, depending
on the age of the children, the stage of the topic being taught,
and what you want the class to achieve.
- The
lessons are planned for approximately 60 minutes, which after
changing time could be about 45 - 50 minutes.
- The
starter includes a warm up should take about 5 to 10 minutes
- The
main teaching activity should take about 30 - 40 minutes
- The
plenary session which should take about 10 minutes; It is important
to give time to this part of the lesson and to plan it carefully.

columns includes 'Where are we now?' 'Activities planned to close
the gap' and 'What are we targeting?'.
- This
involves teachers using assessment evidence to determine where
pupils are in their learning, where they are going and how they
might get there.
